2023 AACA Gallerite Convention in Las Vegas
One of the first reasons it took me so long to join the AACA and to take the Reingage program was because I didn’t understand whether I was allowed or what were the prequisites.
First things first, let me review of common abbreviations and glossary of terms:
AACA = American Academy of Clear Aligners (is for general dentists who provide exceptional orthodontic treatment)
GRC = Gallerite Reingage Convention (a traditional term given to the general meeting including lectures and community events for AACA members every summer in Las Vegas)
Reingage = “This is the course that changed everything” - this is groundbreaking course that Dr. David Galler that gives an indepth perspective into clear aligner treatment with Invisalign. This been one of the most fundamental courses I have taken to improve my approach to clear aligner treatment and orthodontics in general.
AACA GRC Convention in July 2023
Las Vegas has always been synonymous with excitement, entertainment, and a touch of extravagance. However, in the world of dentistry, it's also becoming a learning hub for innovation, education, and collaboration. The AACA GRC Convention is an annual gathering that showcases the latest trends, technologies, and breakthroughs in the field of Invisalign orthodontic treatment.
A Confluence of Dental Expertise
The AACA GRC Convention is a grand assembly of dental professionals, researchers, educators, and industry leaders from USA and Canada (mostly by Key Opinion Leaders from the AACA). Held at the magnificent Wynn Hotel and Casino, it's an event that combines one of the best hotels with the best opportunity to learn.
Continuing Education and Workshops
For dental professionals, staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and best practices is crucial. The convention provides an extensive program of workshops, lectures, and hands-on training sessions led by renowned experts in various dental specialties (most of whom have tested new products from Invisalign and are able to give a more indepth analysis of updates). These sessions cover topics ranging from updates and appllications in the ClinCheck Pro 6.0 software and the recent launch of the Smile Architect software.
Networking Opportunities
In addition to the wealth of knowledge, the convention offers numerous networking opportunities. Attendees can engage in conversations with like-minded peers, mentors, and industry representatives. These interactions often lead to valuable collaborations, new career opportunities, and lifelong professional relationships.
Keynote Speakers and Thought Leaders
Each year, the AACA invites keynote speakers and thought leaders who are driving innovation and change in the dental industry (including Dr Michael Wollock, Dr. Christina Blacher, Dr. Karla Soto and many more). Their presentations inspire attendees to think beyond traditional boundaries and consider the possibilities of dentistry in the future.
The Social Side of Dentistry
Beyond the convention sessions and exhibitions, Las Vegas offers a vibrant social scene. Attendees can unwind by exploring the city's renowned restaurants (this is really one of the best gastronomic venues in Las Vegas), shows, and nightlife. It's a chance to relax and build camaraderie with colleagues in a casual setting.
A Commitment to Dental Excellence
The Las Vegas Gallerite Dental Convention isn't just about showcasing the latest gadgets and gizmos. It's about fostering a commitment to excellence in dental practice. I always leave the convention with renewed enthusiasm and a sense of purpose, armed more knowledge and tools that give direction to future education paths. Last year, I took a course to close “black triangles” using the Bioclear technique with a hands-on workshop. This year, I attend the hands on workshop on mould-injected composite resins by Dr. Katie To (ktseminars.com) - now, I can’t wait to take her masterclass.
In conclusion, the AACA Annual Convention is a melting pot of dental excellence, innovation, and camaraderie. It's where dental professionals from around the world come together to explore the latest technologies, learn from experts, and network with peers. For anyone passionate about dentistry, attending this convention is not just an event; it's a journey into the future of dental care.
Distractions: Las Vegas has many. Since I go there often for meetings, I will share one of my favourite dining venues. Sushi Samba Restaurant & Bar is located in The Venetian/Pallazzo Hotel, just next to the Wynn. I discovered this restaurant back at the 2021 GP Summit in Las Vegas (remember those crazy times with plexiglass and masks in restaurants). Every year, Sushi Samba consistently delivers an amazing atmosphere along with consistenly great Japanese-Brazilian-Peruvian Fusion Cuisine. You must try the Sea Bass Skewers Robata (amazing) and the Peruvian side of Corn (amazing side) and for those who enjoy steaks, the 12 oz Ribeye Tobanyaki always has rave reviews.
